KNOW THE UNKNOWN:
*A spooky path lies lurking in your future. This is a 100% outdoor walking tour in Northern Michigan, please know we cannot control insects, weather, and other factors. The path is mostly sidewalk, with the navigation of a spooky set of stairs we go down (not up), gravel and grass paths through a park too. Please read below as the tour starts and ends at two different locations.
*The tour is packed full of ghost stories and the history of Traverse City. If guests have questions or we have slow walkers, please know this will cause the tour to run over 90 minutes. Please plan an extra 15 minutes in your schedule to accommodate the unknown delays that may lurk in our future.
The last 5 minutes of the tour is an OPTIONAL mini ghost hunt with one set of stairs we go down (not back up) gravel paths, & a grass park encountered. Equipment is provided but please feel free to bring your own.
Walking/Mobility Issues? If you or your party members can't navigate dirt, grass or the stairs encountered during the last 5 minutes of the tour? No worries, please let your tour guide know, and we will provide an alternative sidewalk path for you. A single Boo Scooter is available for rental. Please call Haunted Traverse Tours for more information on the Boo Scooter or select the Boo Scooter when booking your tour.
ARRIVAL TIME:
Spirit-friendly tip! Please arrive 10 minutes before the tour to meet your guide. Feel free to share your Traverse City tales or inquire about your guide's paranormal encounters. We love hearing from you!
Running Late? Beware the ticking hands of time! Tours start promptly, so if you're running behind, contact Haunted Traverse before the tour begins. We'll ensure no restless spirits are left behind. Your guide won't answer calls once the tour commences, so let's keep the spectral connection strong!
MEETING POINT:

Look for your guide donning a mysterious black hat, a snazzy steampunk costume, and clutching a flickering lamp. They'll be lurking just outside the Higher Self Bookstore, ready to lead you into the shadows.
Whether the store is open or closed, fear not! Your guide will be waiting to greet you OUTSIDE Higher Self Bookstore. The Higher Self Bookstore doesn't operate the tours or help our tour guests. For any queries, summon Haunted Traverse Tours directly.
ENDING POINT:
Address: .8 miles away from the tour starting point at Perry Hannah Statue
Corner of 6th and Union Street
Downtown Traverse City
The tour ends at the corner of 6th and Union Street .8 miles from where the tour began. To retrace your steps back to the beginning, guests can traverse the well-lit Union Street north to Front Street and then east back to the Higher Self Bookstore.
I have guests worry about lighting late at night or walking back to their cars. One helpful tip may be to park at the end of the tour and have your car nearby where the tour ends. Using a car service? A helpful tip, if you are done exploring the area, is to provide the end of the tour as your pickup location for your car service.
PARKING/RESTROOMS:
• Beware of the tricky restrooms. Please use a restroom before meeting your tour guide as there is no restroom where we meet up. You might try your luck at the frightfully tasty Milk & Honey Ice Cream Shop nearby!
• The Hardy Parking Garage is located across the street from where the tour starts.
• Parallel parking on the street is found throughout downtown Traverse City. It is metered until 6 pm each night.
CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDS/NO SHOWS:
• Guests Requesting Cancellations
o Please text/email your request to cancel. Contact information is found below.
• Haunted Traverse operates rain, wind, cold, or shine and will only cancel if there is severe weather/ lightning forecasted in Downtown Traverse City when the tour operates.
• If Haunted Traverse Tours cancels a tour due to weather or unforeseen circumstances here is how we will do it:
o A text or email is sent one hour before the tour start time
o Please make sure to opt in to receive text messages from us if you want text messages.
o If you do not opt for text messages when creating your reservation, we send out an email regarding the cancellation.
o If Haunted Traverse Tours cancels the tour, guests can choose a new tour date or a full refund.
Refunds for Tour Cancelations
o Haunted Traverse Tours Cancelations: we provide a 100% refund.
o Guest Cancelations: To receive a full refund, a written notice received with at least 24 hours before the tour’s start time is needed. I need enough time to fill your spot as I only provide a limited number of spots for my tours. Thank you for your understanding. ~Dez
Changes to Reservation/No-shows
o Haunted Traverse Tour is happy to accommodate changes to reservations if 24-hour notice is given and is based on availability. Helpful Tip: We sell out our tours many nights throughout July and August and weekends in the fall.
o Guests who do not rebook (make changes to their tour date/start time) at least 24 hours before the tour’s start time and do not attend their tour are considered no-shows. We do not rebook or provide refunds for no-show guests.
